Detailed Day Wise Itinerary

  • Day: 1 Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

    • Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu.
    • Transfer to your hotel.
    • Briefing on the trek by Frox Holidays Nepal team.
    • Free time to explore the capital city.

  • Day: 2 Kathmandu Sightseeing

    • Stroll through Basantapur Durbar Square, exploring ancient temples and markets.
    • Visit Asan & Indra Chowk, known for spices, fabrics, and local culture.
    • Enjoy traditional Nepali food at a local restaurant.
    • Explore Thamel for souvenirs, trekking gear, and vibrant nightlife.
    • Preparation for the trek, including final gear check.

  • Day: 3 Drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar (830m) & Trek to Bhulbhule (840m) – 7-8 Hours Drive, 2-3 Hours Trek

    • Scenic drive through hills, rivers, and small villages to Besisahar.
    • Begin the trek, following the Marshyangdi River.
    • Cross suspension bridges and walk past terraced farmlands.
    • Arrive in Bhulbhule and rest in a teahouse.

  • Day: 4 Trek from Bhulbhule to Chamje (1,410m) – 5-6 Hours

    • Walk through rice fields and lush forests.
    • Enjoy views of waterfalls and towering cliffs.
    • Cross traditional villages and interact with locals.
    • Reach Chamje, a peaceful village along the river.

  • Day: 5 Trek from Chamje to Dharapani (1,960m) – 5-6 Hours

    • Cross a suspension bridge and ascend through stone-paved trails.
    • Pass by Tal village, a wide valley with waterfalls.
    • Trek along the Marsyangdi River, gradually gaining elevation.
    • Arrive in Dharapani, a meeting point of the Annapurna and Manaslu circuits.

  • Day: 6 Trek from Dharapani to Chame (2,670m) – 5-6 Hours

    • Walk through dense pine and rhododendron forests.

    • Reach Chame, the district headquarters of Manang.

  • Day: 7 Trek from Chame to Pisang (3,250m) – 5-6 Hours

    • Walk through steep, narrow valleys with dramatic rock formations.
    • Cross several bridges over glacial rivers.
    • The landscape transitions to alpine terrain with open views.
    • Arrive in Pisang, offering stunning views of Annapurna II & IV.

  • Day: 8 Trek from Pisang to Manang (3,540m) – 5-6 Hours

    • Take the Upper Route (via Ghyaru & Ngawal) for breathtaking views or the easier Lower Route.
    • Observe Tibetan culture, monasteries, and traditional villages.
    • Gradually enter a high-altitude desert landscape.
    • Reach Manang, the largest village in the region, perfect for acclimatization.

  • Day: 9 Acclimatization Day in Manang

    • Take a short hike to Gangapurna Lake or Bhojo Gompa for acclimatization.
    • Visit the Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) for altitude awareness.
    • Explore local monasteries and traditional houses.
    • Rest and prepare for higher altitudes.

  • Day: 10 Trek from Manang to Yak Kharka (4,110m) – 3-4 Hours

    • Begin a gradual climb, leaving behind the tree line.
    • Enjoy stunning views of Ganggapurna, Tilicho Peak, and Annapurna III.
    • Pass yak pastures and small tea houses.
    • Reach Yak Kharka, a high-altitude grazing area.

  • Day: 11 Trek from Yak Kharka to Thorong Phedi (4,450m) – 4-5 Hours

    • Continue the gradual ascent through rocky terrains.
    • Cross icy streams and suspension bridges.
    • Reach Thorong Phedi, the base before Thorong La Pass.
    • Rest early to prepare for the toughest day of the trek.

  • Day: 12 Cross Thorong La Pass (5,416m) & Trek to Jomsom (2,700m) – 9-10 Hours

    • Start early for the long and challenging ascent to Thorong La Pass (5,416m).
    • Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views before descending towards Muktinath (3,800m).
    • Visit Muktinath Temple, an important pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists.
    • After lunch, continue trekking down through Kagbeni towards Jomsom.
    • Stay overnight in Jomsom, a windy valley town famous for apple orchards and Thakali culture.

  • Day: 13 Fly from Jomsom to Pokhara (820m) – 25 Minutes

    • Catch a morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara, with stunning aerial views of the Himalayas.
    • Check in to your hotel and enjoy a relaxing morning in Pokhara.
    • Explore Phewa Lake, Davis Falls, and the World Peace Pagoda. (upon request)

  • Day: 14 Drive or Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu

    • Take a scenic drive (6-7 hours) or a 30-minute flight back to Kathmandu.

Things to Know Before You Go – Annapurna Circuit Trek

 Best Time to Trek

Autumn (Sep-Nov): Clear skies, mild temperatures, and the best views.

Spring (Mar-May): Blooming rhododendrons and comfortable trekking conditions.

Winter (Dec-Feb): Cold with possible snowfall; Thorong La Pass may be closed.

Monsoon (Jun-Aug): Rainy and muddy trails, but fewer crowds.

Trekking Permits Required

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

Trekkers’ Information Management System (TIMS) Card
These permits are mandatory and will have to be arranged before the trek.

Physical Fitness & Preparation

Moderate to strenuous trek, requiring good stamina and endurance.

Recommended 2-3 months of cardio, strength training, and hiking practice.

Acclimatization days are included to help with altitude adaptation.

Altitude Sickness Awareness

The trek reaches 5,416 m (Thorong La Pass), so altitude sickness is a risk.

Symptoms include headache, nausea, dizziness, and shortness of breath.

Tips to avoid altitude sickness:

    • Stay hydrated (3-4 liters per day).
    • Ascend gradually and take acclimatization days seriously.
    • Avoid alcohol and smoking.
    • Consider Diamox (after consulting a doctor).

Accommodation & Meals

Teahouse lodges with basic facilities are available throughout the trek.

Meals include Nepali (Dal Bhat), Momo, Tibetan, etc.

Electricity and Wi-Fi are available in most villages but may be slow or chargeable.
